Guatemala is one of largest countries rich in Jade. Jade is a beautiful stone enriched by ancient value, especially in the Maya culture. According to the Mayan worldview this stone is strongly connected to nature and life in its purest form. This gemstone exists of a combination of natriumsilicate and aliminium, mostly found in the east of Guatemala. The stone arose thousands of years ago after Carribean tectonic plates collapsed. The formation was a slow shock between high pressure and low temperatures. This cold environment makes Jade a very hard, durable stone that doesn’t brake easily. The pure colour is white and the different colour variations that exist – emerald green, blue, light or apple green – come from the absorption of different other minerals or metals like iron.
